Advanced Filter Press Technology CellTRON
Short Description
The MSE Filter Press is a fully automated filtration solution engineered specifically for battery recycling, supporting both Material Separation—for example, dewatering slurry from wet shredding processes—and Material Recovery, where it is used to extract solids during hydrometallurgical black mass processing. Designed for high washing efficiency and minimal downtime, it features MSE’s patented CellTRON sealed enclosure, optional cleanroom integration, and a complete CIP (clean-in-place) system.

Specifications & Service
- The MSE Filter Press is a membrane and chamber filter press engineered for the battery industry, supporting both Material Separation (e.g., dewatering slurries after wet shredding) and Material Recovery (e.g., purification of black mass or hydroxides) in battery recycling.
- It handles feed slurries with 1–30% solids content, producing dewatered filter cakes with 50–93% solids, depending on feed characteristics and process parameters.
- Engineered for high washing efficiency (up to 97.5%), the system ensures optimal separation performance for battery-grade materials such as hydroxides and black mass.
- The fully automated design includes plate shifting, shaking, core blow, cake drying, and leak detection. A complete CIP (Clean-in-Place) system enables fast, hygienic cleaning between batches, minimizing downtime and cross-contamination risk.
- The patented CellTRON enclosure ensures operator safety and environmental compliance when processing hazardous materials. Optional ventilation systems support cleanroom-compatible operation.
- The system offers scalable flexibility, with filtration areas from 1 to 692 m², chamber volumes up to 16,500 liters, and operating pressures up to 30 bar, making it suitable for applications ranging from lab-scale testing to full industrial production.
- All MSE Filter Presses are manufactured in Germany, constructed with stainless steel, PP, or mild steel, and integrated with globally recognized automation platforms such as SIEMENS, ABB, and Allen Bradley. Full online support and remote monitoring capabilities are available.
- MSE brings extensive experience in battery recycling applications, with over 250 on-site test days conducted specifically with battery slurries.
