Transportation Box
Transportation boxes are certified, purpose-built containers used to safely store and ship batteries or battery components. These enclosures are engineered to withstand mechanical stress, limit thermal propagation, and prevent electrical hazards during handling and logistics.
Depending on the application and battery type, transportation boxes may include features like fire-resistant linings, absorbent materials, internal restraints, or gas venting ports. All boxes must comply with international shipping regulations such as ADR, IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR, and many require UN certification for lithium-ion battery shipments.
Boxes may also be designed for reusability, stackability, or temperature monitoring, and are a core part of battery safety protocols from disassembly sites to end-user or recycler locations.
Common Types of Transportation Boxes
- UN-Certified Metal Boxes
For damaged or end-of-life batteries requiring thermal protection and containment of potential venting or leakage. - Plastic Battery Boxes with Inner Cushioning
Lightweight, often modular options for new or undamaged cells and modules. - Fireproof Fiberboard or Composite Boxes
Compliant with air freight or road transport; often lined with ceramic or mica sheets. - Battery Storage & Transport Cabinets
Larger units for warehouse or depot use, designed for medium-term storage of high-voltage packs. - Custom Engineered Containers
Designed for OEMs or integrators handling unique pack shapes, chemistries, or hazardous classifications.
