Reckelberg Environmental Technologies GmbH (RET)

Description

Reckelberg Environmental Technologies (RET) is a Germany-based engineering company specializing in battery recycling systems and environmental process technologies. Serving the recycling, material recovery, and circular economy sectors, RET designs and manufactures turnkey machinery that enables the safe, efficient, and sustainable processing of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Its solutions support every stage of the mechanical recycling chain—from discharge and drying to delamination and black mass recovery—helping recyclers and OEMs maximize yield, purity, and safety.

RET engineers modular, high-performance recycling systems built around three core technologies: Battery Discharge, Vacuum Drying, and the Impact Reactor for mechanical separation. Together, these systems form a closed-loop, inert gas–protected process that safely discharges batteries, removes electrolytes under controlled vacuum conditions, and separates electrode materials into >98% pure black mass and clean metal fractions. Each module is available as a standalone system or as part of a fully integrated line, with throughput capacities ranging from 1 to 4 tons per hour.

A key strength of RET’s approach is system-level integration—bridging early-stage safety and preparation with high-efficiency material recovery. Its modular platform enables scalable plant designs for R&D, pilot, and full industrial operation, fully compliant with EU environmental and safety regulations. Optional data interfaces support process monitoring, traceability, and battery passport requirements.

RET partners with Van Dyk Recycling Solutions (VDRS) to expand access to its technologies in North America. Through this collaboration, RET’s discharge, drying, and separation equipment are integrated into turnkey recycling lines engineered and distributed by Van Dyk, leveraging their decades of expertise in plant design, installation, and service. Together, they deliver advanced, proven solutions for the growing North American LIB recycling market—offering recyclers complete mechanical systems from battery to black mass.

RET provides a full scope of services:

  • Engineering & Process Development – Designing custom and turnkey recycling systems for lithium-ion batteries.
  • Manufacturing & Integration – Producing and assembling core process machinery in Germany for global projects.
  • Testing & Validation – Operating a technical center in Bremerhaven for process trials, yield verification, and optimization.
  • Installation & Commissioning – Providing on-site assembly, startup, and operator training.
  • After-Sales Support – Offering remote diagnostics, spare parts, and process upgrades.
